About Us

Tender Lawn Care provides high-quality landscape management and snowplowing services to residential and commercial clients throughout West Michigan.

Family-owned and operated since 1949, Tender Lawn Care is dedicated to delivering professional, yet cost-effective services – making us one of West Michigan’s leading green-industry companies.

OUR STORY:

In 1949 Joe Oomkes and Sid DeJong formed Joe and Sid Gardeners. Joe and Sid were both European immigrants. They came ready to apply “old country” skills and work ethic. Sid had worked as a soil reclamation specialist in converting some of the North Sea soils to tillable acreage. Joe and Sid Gardeners performed many services in landscape management during those early years. Most of the work was centered around the East Grand Rapids area, but as the metropolitan area grew, so did the business.

In 1972, Sid’s son Ed became involved full-time in the business. In 1979 the name was changed to Tender Lawn Care. The new name reflected the company’s heart felt commitment to its residential and commercial clients, its employees and the environment.

In 2012, the company remained family-owned as Ed's son, Jamin, became the new President. Jamin has surrounded himself with a team of talented, knowledgeable, and dedicated colleagues who share his commitment to quality service!

When measured by its assets, Tender Lawn Care has an investment of millions of dollars in state of the art vehicles and equipment. This puts Tender Lawn Care as one of the top green industry companies in West Michigan. Tender Lawn Care puts high priorities on growth and financial stability to ensure quality long term care for you as a client and our employees.
